1. About these terms
These terms concern the Dearpause iOS app provided by Rising Academy LLC (“we”, “us”). They describe the use of the app and its subscription features. Read them together with the Privacy Policy and the terms Apple presents for your App Store purchase.
Dearpause is a personal tool for maintaining no contact, saving unsent writing and reflecting on your own reasons and boundaries. It does not contact people on your behalf, block other apps or enforce your choices.
Dearpause is intended for adults aged 18 and over. You must be at least 18 years old to use the app.
Your App Store download is licensed under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms explain Dearpause’s service and subscription features and do not limit mandatory consumer rights or replace that license.
2. Using Dearpause
Use the app lawfully and respect other people’s rights. Do not use it to harass others, infringe intellectual property, attempt unauthorized access or interfere with the app’s operation. You are responsible for what you enter and the decisions you make outside the app.
The app is not medical or mental-health treatment, professional counseling, legal advice or an emergency service. It does not monitor your writing for danger and cannot contact emergency services for you. If you need urgent help, use appropriate local emergency or professional support.
3. Your writing and local information
You retain your rights in the text you enter. The app stores and displays that text to provide its features; saving an Unsent entry does not send it to the named person. Incoming messages in Reply are supplied by you, not read automatically from another app.
Use names or aliases and share only information you are entitled to use. Keep your device secure. Saved content is local to the app; there is no Dearpause cloud account or app-managed synchronization service for that content. Unsaved session drafts are not guaranteed to survive termination of the app.
Deletion options and their limits are described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting the app can remove saved local writing, and restoring a subscription does not restore that writing. Dearpause cannot recover a server copy that it does not hold.
4. Subscriptions and free trials
Dearpause offers annual and weekly auto-renewing Premium subscriptions with the same Premium feature access. Annual is the default selection. Some features remain available without Premium.
The purchase screen and Apple’s confirmation sheet show the available product’s price, currency, billing period and any introductory offer. These vary by storefront and eligibility. Review the terms for the plan you select before confirming. The app does not charge you merely for viewing a plan, writing a draft or dismissing the paywall.
Where Apple offers you an eligible free trial, the selected plan shows its actual duration and the recurring charge after the trial. The trial converts to the selected paid plan unless canceled in accordance with Apple’s purchase terms and cancellation deadline. If no trial applies, the normal subscription terms are shown. Apple determines trial eligibility, including prior use within the subscription group; switching between annual and weekly does not provide another trial.
Payment is handled by Apple through your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled in time under the terms shown by Apple. Apple controls billing, applicable taxes and payment processing; Dearpause does not collect your payment-card details.
5. Cancellation, refunds and restoring access
Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account’s subscription settings. The app’s “Manage subscription” entry opens Apple’s subscription-management page. Follow the cancellation deadline shown by Apple for your subscription. For a free trial, Apple’s cancellation guidance is to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends if you do not want it to renew. Deleting the app, deleting writing or turning off notifications does not cancel a subscription.
Refund requests for Apple-billed purchases can be made through Apple’s refund-request service. Refund eligibility is determined by Apple and applicable law; these terms do not remove your mandatory consumer rights.
“Restore Purchases” checks for eligible existing access using Apple and RevenueCat. Use the Apple Account associated with the purchase. A successful restore depends on an active entitlement and the services being available; it does not create a new free trial or recover locally deleted writing.
A trial reminder is optional and depends on a verified expiry and notification permission. It is scheduled locally for 24 hours before that expiry when possible. Delivery is not guaranteed. Do not wait for a reminder to cancel; follow Apple’s cancellation deadline even if no reminder arrives.
6. Availability and important limits
Features may be unavailable because of device conditions, network access, Apple or RevenueCat service availability, or software errors. Access to paid features requires verification of an active Premium entitlement. Dearpause does not guarantee a particular relationship, emotional or behavioral outcome.
You may stop using the app at any time. Changes to features or subscription terms must respect your existing purchase terms and applicable consumer law. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
7. Privacy and third-party services
The Privacy Policy explains local storage, subscription processing, local notifications and available deletion controls. Apple and RevenueCat provide separate subscription services. External websites you open have their own terms and privacy practices.
These terms do not replace any Apple license terms that apply to your App Store download. The Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the App Store license; no custom EULA has been configured for Dearpause.
8. Changes and contact
These terms take effect on October 31, 2026. If these terms change, the revised version will be made available on the terms page, with any additional notice required by applicable law.
