1. Who we are
Dearpause is an iOS app operated by Rising Academy LLC (“we”, “us”). It provides tools for maintaining a period of no contact, saving unsent writing and keeping personal reasons and boundaries. This policy explains how the current app handles information.
You do not create a Dearpause login account. An Apple Account may be used by Apple to manage App Store purchases. Dearpause does not receive your Apple Account password or payment-card details.
2. Information stored on your device
The app stores the following in its local app storage so that saved information can be available when you reopen it:
- Onboarding answers and progress, including a name or alias if supplied, situation, feelings, preferences, expectations, dates, plan period, contact rules and necessary-contact choices.
- Saved Unsent entries, their separate text segments, the names or aliases you assign to threads, and incoming-message text you choose to include with a saved Reply.
- My Why, My boundaries and What I want to remember notes; your no-contact start date, best streak and cumulative resisted-urge count.
- The last saved daily check-in date and your local trial-reminder preference. The app does not keep a separate daily history of every check-in answer.
These items are used to display your saved information and operate the app’s existing features. The current app does not upload this writing or these onboarding answers to us, RevenueCat or an AI service. It does not send Unsent entries to the person named in a thread, access your address book or read your messages automatically. You choose what to type or paste.
Unsent and Reply text that has not been explicitly saved is a session draft. It is not promised to survive the app being terminated. Onboarding progress is saved separately and may remain locally after onboarding is complete.
Dearpause has no app-managed cloud sync or cloud backup for your writing. Device backups or device transfers may include app data depending on your Apple settings. Those services are separate from Dearpause. Local storage relies on the device’s protections; the app does not add its own encrypted vault or app passcode. Anyone with access to your unlocked device may be able to view the app.
3. Apple and RevenueCat subscriptions
We use Apple’s in-app purchase system and RevenueCat to load subscription options, verify transactions, restore purchases and determine Premium access. RevenueCat generates a random app-user identifier; we do not supply your onboarding name, thread names, notes, writing or email as customer attributes.
RevenueCat processes that identifier, purchase and receipt information, product and entitlement status, trial and expiry dates, and technical information such as platform and operating-system details. Network requests expose connection information such as an IP address to the receiving service. Subscription information supports purchase validation, fraud prevention, access management and subscription reporting in the RevenueCat dashboard. A billing connection may occur when the app starts or returns to the foreground, even if you do not start a purchase.
Review RevenueCat’s privacy information and Apple’s privacy information for their processing. We have not added a separate advertising, behavioral analytics or crash-reporting service to the current app. RevenueCat’s subscription reporting is distinct from those services; this app is not a “no data collected” app.
4. Optional local notifications
If you explicitly enable the trial reminder and iOS permits notifications, the app schedules a local reminder for 24 hours before the verified trial expiry. It stores the reminder preference on your device and can cancel or reschedule the reminder when the verified expiry or your preference changes.
The current app does not register a remote push token or send your writing through notification services. Notification permission is controlled in iOS Settings. Turning off a reminder does not cancel a subscription.
5. Legal pages, external links and support
These legal-page files do not include analytics, advertising tags, cookies, third-party fonts or submission forms. The public legal pages are hosted using Cloudflare. When you visit them on Cloudflare, Cloudflare receives ordinary request and connection information, such as your IP address, browser details and requested URL, to deliver and protect the pages. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. We have not added Cloudflare Web Analytics or a visitor form. Hosting providers may retain service and security records under their applicable policies and legal obligations; our support-mail deletion period does not apply to those records.
Opening links to Apple, RevenueCat or a research source takes you to services governed by their own policies. The app does not append your saved writing to those links.
If you choose to email info@myreading.io, we receive your email address, any sender name shown with it, and the message and attachments you choose to send. We use this information to address your request. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or private writing that is not needed for the request.
Our support mailbox uses Namecheap Private Email. Dearpause’s owner personally handles support and privacy requests. The mailbox is not configured to automatically forward incoming messages to another mailbox. The email service processes messages and related delivery information to operate the mailbox; see Namecheap’s Privacy Policy.
Support & privacy contact: info@myreading.io. The App’s Contact support entry opens your mail application; you decide whether to send, and the app does not automatically attach your writing. Our support-mail retention rule is described below. Email-provider service records and backups are subject to the provider’s applicable retention practices and legal obligations.
6. Retention and deletion
Saved local information remains until you remove it through an available control or remove the app’s local data. There is no automatic expiry for saved Unsent entries or notes.
- Notes: open a note in Me, choose “Delete this note”, then confirm “Delete note”. This removes that note from the current saved notes. Historical local setup or legacy records and device backups are not necessarily removed by deleting one note.
- Unsent drafts: “Delete draft” clears the corresponding unsaved draft. It leaves saved entries intact.
- Saved Unsent entries and threads: the current version does not provide individual deletion or an in-app “delete all data” control.
- Local app content: iOS “Delete App” removes the app and its associated local documents/data. “Offload App” keeps documents/data. Review backups separately in your Apple settings. Do not delete the app unless you intend to lose local content; Dearpause has no server copy of that writing to restore.
- Restarting no contact: this changes the streak start and preserves writing, notes and existing records. It is not a data-deletion action.
Deleting the app or local writing does not cancel an Apple subscription or automatically erase Apple or RevenueCat transaction records. Restoring purchases restores eligible subscription access, not local writing. Provider records, backups and legally required records may have separate retention periods. The current app does not submit a RevenueCat erasure request when you delete it.
Support email
Dearpause’s owner manually deletes ordinary support emails, including the associated replies and attachments held in our support mailbox, within 90 days after the request is resolved. We may retain relevant records longer while a dispute remains unresolved or where retention is required by applicable law, and review those records when that reason ends. This period does not set the retention schedule for Apple, RevenueCat, or email-provider backups and service logs.
We keep subscription records as needed to verify and restore access, handle billing questions and meet applicable legal obligations. To request access, correction or deletion of subscription-related information processed on our behalf, email our privacy contact. We will ask only for information needed to locate the relevant record and verify the request, then use the provider’s available tools or work with the provider to address it. Deleting a RevenueCat record does not cancel an Apple subscription; continuing to use the app or restoring purchases may create a new subscription-service record. Records Apple holds independently are subject to Apple’s policies and request procedures.
7. Privacy requests and audience
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights to access, correct or delete personal information, restrict or object to processing, receive a copy, or complain to a privacy regulator. Email info@myreading.io for a request concerning information handled by us or our subscription provider. Local writing cannot be retrieved remotely by us; its available controls are described above. We may need information sufficient to locate and verify a subscription-related request, but not your Apple password or unnecessary private writing.
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries, including outside your country of residence. RevenueCat’s processing on our behalf is covered by its Data Processing Addendum, which describes applicable international-transfer safeguards. Apple, Cloudflare and Namecheap describe their processing and transfers in the policies linked above. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your request.
Where a legal basis is required, we process subscription information to provide purchased access, support correspondence to respond to your requests, and limited service information for legitimate interests in security and operating the service. Applicable legal obligations may also require processing. Optional local notifications require your choice and the device’s permission. You may contact us about the basis relevant to your information or object where applicable.
Dearpause is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to anyone under 18. If you have a privacy concern involving someone under 18, contact info@myreading.io. You do not need to include private writing to make an initial request.
